When I first looked at this, I was not in doubt. A skilled photographer has been at work here. It is my absolute favourite portrait all-time. Portraits are difficult to make original, but it doesn't mean it's not good. This portrait catches your eye immediately, and it's hard letting go of the view again, as there is so much detail to pay attention to.

Technique-wise, I'd say it's been cut well. The f-number has been well-chosen and matches the lighting very well, as we only focus on what is lighted. The lighting is a great deal of what makes this picture so amazing.
It had a great impact on me; I can feel the stare, the expression as a rush down my central nervous system. At the same time, a small smile is present. It doesn't matter in what direction you cover a part of the face - the smile is there in every bit, and along with that, the great sense of kindness. According to me, that's the exact emotion I'd put into a portrait of this genre. It's very well done, and I can't help but giving a smile in return.

If there were a single thing I was to change, I would have straightened out the shirt the person is wearing. It makes a weird cut in the picture, and when you notice it, it can't be unseen.
