I just have the feeling on missing out on this man's history and stories. How do you always get those straight and unveiled stares? Did he see you and changed his expression to this one? Or had he already had this expression? Was he walking alone in the crowd? Or was he walking with someone?
Don't be sad. I don't try and make him look sad, or happy, just a face, it's powerful enough without emotions. To answer your questions, he wasn't alone, he was smiling. As for how I get these stares in photographs there are many ways I like to do it. Sometimes I ask, sometimes I don't, sometimes I stand in infront of them, sometimes I stand behind and wait for them to turn around, sometimes I just stare at them first.
